What is ECID and why is it important?

ECID stands for Exclusive Chip ID. It is a unique identifier that is assigned to each device by Apple. It is used to authenticate your device and verify its eligibility for software updates, service and support, and other features. ECID is also important for jailbreaking or restoring your iPhone, as it allows you to save and use your SHSH blobs, which are digital signatures that confirm your device's firmware version.

How to find your ECID on your iPhone

There are several ways to find your ECID on your iPhone. Here are some of the most common methods:

Using Settings app

This is the easiest way to find your ECID on your iPhone. Just follow these steps:

  • Go to Settings > General and tap About.

  • Look for the serial number. You might need to scroll down to find the IMEI/MEID, and ICCID.

  • To paste this information into Apple registration or support forms, touch and hold the number to copy.

Using Finder or iTunes

If you have a Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, you can use Finder to find your ECID. If you have a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or a PC, you can use iTunes. Here's how:

  • Connect your iPhone to your computer.

  • On a Mac with macOS Catalina 10.15 or later, open Finder. On a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier, or a PC, open iTunes.

  • Locate your device icon at the top-left of the window.

  • Click the Summary tab in the left navigation pane.

  • Keep clicking on the serial number shown in the right pane to reveal the ECID of your connected device.

  • To copy the ECID, press Command + C on Mac or Ctrl + C on Windows.

Using Apple ID website

If you don't have access to your iPhone or computer, you can still find your ECID on the Apple ID website. Here's how:

  • Sign in with the Apple ID that you use on your device.

  • Choose the Devices section.

  • Select the device that you want to find the ECID for.

  • You should see the serial number and the IMEI/MEID of your device. The ECID is usually the last part of the IMEI/MEID.

How to check your service and support coverage with ECID

One of the benefits of having your ECID is that you can check your service and support coverage with it. This can help you determine if your device is still under warranty, eligible for AppleCare+, or has any other issues. Here are some ways to check your service and support coverage with ECID:

Using Apple's website

This is the official way to check your service and support coverage with Apple. Just follow these steps:

  • Enter your ECID in the box and click Continue.

  • You should see information about your device's model, purchase date, warranty status, AppleCare+ status, repair coverage, technical support, activation lock status, battery health, and more.

Using third-party websites

If you want more details about your device's history, such as its carrier, network lock status, blacklist status, iCloud status, SIM lock status, etc., you can use third-party websites that offer these services. However, be careful when choosing these websites as some of them may charge fees or provide inaccurate information. Here are some examples of third-party websites that claim to provide device information based on ECID:
